As part of our ongoing tenth anniversary celebrations, M Media & Design (mm&d) are set to stage a special Treasure Hunt in Hartlepool.

Starting on Monday 16th November and finishing on Friday 20th, mm&d will be giving away daily clues to a secret location in Hartlepool, where one successful treasure hunter will win £500 in cash. The company will also match the prize with a £500 donation to the Hartlepool & District Hospice.

Jamie Arthur, Hartlepool resident, and Director of mm&d:

We were looking to find a unique way of celebrating our tenth year. We wanted it to be fun and also engage the local community- and what better way to do this than giving someone an early Christmas present!

We were also keen to support a local charity, and the Hartlepool & District Hospice fit the bill perfectly. They do great work in the town and rely heavily on fundraising so we were more than happy to make a contribution to such a fantastic cause.

To be in with a chance of winning the £500, follow M Media & Design on social media, and stay tuned for daily video clues on Facebook and Twitter which will lead you to the mystery location. Videos will be posted at 10am each day.

Social media is a great way of promoting specific campaigns to a targeted area. We are looking to engage with a large volume of people in Hartlepool and generate a lot of excitement around the event, said Jamie.

M Media & Design provide marketing support for many businesses in Hartlepool, including JDR Cable Systems, Changing Futures, Manor Academy, Hartlepool Sixth Form and Focus Removals.

Over the past four months M Media & Design (mm&d) have been working with Pro-Active Safety across a range of marketing services. Formerly known as PASS Safety, the Hartlepool-based training providers went through a full rebrand, with mm&d developing a new logo and a range of additional design and print work.

The second stage of the development was to create a website to cater for the growing demand of their training courses and consultancy services. Given their target audience, it was crucial that the website was responsive to mobile phones and tablet devices. Brian Hanson, Director, Pro-Active Safety:

The guidance – and more importantly, the great advice – suggested by mm&d has turned our old, out-dated website into a modern, sparkling, ready-for-business site.”

Working alongside the website is an innovative ‘passport’ system which allows building site supervisors to instantly access the qualifications of tradesmen. mm&d are already working on further developments for this feature, with the aim of considerably reducing administration time and the reliance on paperwork.

There are lots of ways we can grow the passport system in the future, including text messaging and app development. The days of carrying around paper documents are numbered and it is important that we react to this.”

Having recently signed a contract to become a major training provider for 16-to-19-year-olds, the next 12 months promise to be exciting times for Pro-Active Safety. Through their sister companies, Pro-Active Training and Brickwork Services Ltd, the business is now actively looking for over 60 school leavers to sign up for bricklaying apprenticeships at their new training facility in Hartlepool.

This is a massive 12 months for the business. We want to be different to other providers in that we can provide real hands-on training to the youngsters. They will end up with a series of qualifications as well as invaluable on-site experience.

We look forward to working with mm&d in the future and have already started work on an aggressive marketing strategy for the new training centre which opens its doors in July.”

M Media and Design Ltd (mm&d) are delighted to join forces with Hartlepool-based JDR Cable Systems to support their Annual Charity Summer Ball.

The prestigious black-tie event will be held at Hardwick Hall on Friday 19th June and will be raising funds for local hospice Zoë’s Place.

Teesside-based Zoë’s Place provides palliative, respite and end-of-life care to babies and infants aged from birth to five years old suffering from life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

mm&d will be supplying all of the artwork and invites for the event free of charge. Director Gavin Hatton was delighted to support the ball:

Over the past few years we have supported several charities including Make a Child Smile, Cash 4 Kids and Wooden Spoon. We were more than happy to work alongside JDR to support such a worthwhile cause.

JDR Cable Systems were equally as pleased to get mm&d on board to help with the marketing of the event. Mandy Marriner, JDR Cables:

The event continues to grow year-year-on-year. This year we are expecting a full capacity of 310 guests and hope to raise close to £15,000 for the charity.

We didn’t approach mm&d in terms of sponsorship, they did it out of their own goodwill and we are grateful for their fantastic designs. With their event experience, we are hoping to make this year’s event the best yet.

About the client

Based in Whitby, North Yorkshire, Offshore Marine Energy Services Limited (OMESL) provide static guard, chase and trawl sweep vessels and crews to the Offshore Oil, Gas, Energy and Marine sectors.

About the project

Having operated as Streonshalth Guard Vessel Services Ltd since 2011, in summer 2014 the company decided to re-brand as OMESL. M Media & Design Ltd (mm&d) have provided a wide-range of marketing services to OMESL in recent months, creating the company logo and building a new website to match the new branding.

The first steps involved meeting with OMESL to look at logo options and creating a brand that would be easily recognisable in a highly competitive industry. The new logo will be used on a broad range of mediums, from digital to vessel signage. Commenting on the development, Andrew Locker, OMESL Operations Manager;

From the offset we were delighted with what mm&d provided with the logo options. After careful consideration we decided to opt for the ‘O’ option as the icon would help create a strong identity.Communication has been clear all the way and they have gone above and beyond in terms of support and advice.

Once the final brand was signed-off, the next development was to build a website to promote to the company online. In an age when over 50% of website browsing is on either smartphones or tablet devices, it was important that the site was fully responsive. The site would highlight the services offered by OMESL, the current fleet as well as client testimonials.

We love the bright home page with the large image and scrolling services providing a great snap-shot of what we are all about. The navigation is clean and easy which is perfect for our target audience.

New social media pages have been set up which link in with the new site ensuring viewers are up to speed with the company’s latest news.

Further work has followed for OMESL, with new business cards to match the branding and clothing for staff and crew. Work will also begin in December on a new website for Lockers Trawlers, a family-run fishing business linked with OMESL.

Owain Jenkins, Business Development Manager at mm&d is hoping the project will lead to further work in this industry.

OMESL have been a pleasure deal with from start to finish. We have a strong background in Engineering but this specialist industry is new to us. We are really pleased with the final brand and website and look forward to forming a long-term relationship with Andrew and his team.

OVER a thousand teenagers on Teesside will have the chance to find out more about their dream job at Middlesbrough’s largest annual careers guidance event this month.

The Big Skills Event, organised by Middlesbrough Council’s 0-19 Service and M Media & Design Ltd, will also be open for a special evening slot to give parents the opportunity to join their children in finding their employment or education path.

Over 1,300 school children and parents are expected to attend the careers fare at Middlesbrough Town Hall on 8th October, as a variety of exhibitors and industry experts look to unearth Teesside’s best young talent.

Among the careers on show will be graphic design, hair and beauty, engineering, sports development, catering and construction, with a number of interactive demonstrations to be held during the day.

John Keelty, Middlesbrough Council 0-19 Service Manager said:

We have run this event for a number of years and the feedback from attendees has always been great. The advice and guidance on the learning pathways available to young people when they leave education is priceless for the students with such big decisions on the horizon.

This is the largest impartial careers education event in Middlesbrough and we have tried to make every young person aware of the event through work in schools, on social media and individual letters as we want them to make the correct career choice at 16.

Once again the Town Hall plays host to the event so that young people in Middlesbrough have the opportunity to visit this historic building that remains the heartbeat of the town.”

Mark Skirving, Director, M Media & Design, said:

Once again we have enjoyed working with Middlesbrough Council on The Big Skills Event. We are particularly pleased with the wide-range of exhibitors we have at this year’s event. We also have 12 interactive demonstrations running throughout the day- offering hands on advice on different careers.  .”

The event, which is free to attend with no appointments to see exhibitors needed, runs from 11.00am to 3.00pm and 4.45pm until 7pm.

Between 11am to 3.00pm, year 10 and 11 pupils from all local schools in Middlesbrough are invited to attend.

The event is keen to welcome parents, carers and young people, including year 10 and 11 school pupils along to the evening session which is held between 4.45pm to 7pm.

If you have any queries or would like more information on the event, please call 01429 874 5TG.
