As the Rugby 6 Nations competition gathered pace, mm&d were once again involved with some of the UK's leading companies and events. A festival of rugby and activity was hosted by the historic club, London Scottish, to celebrate this years Calcutta Cup game between England and Scotland. mm&d were the agency behind the branding and activation of the event and its sponsors.
Underpinning the weekend was the inaugural Deutsche Bank Sportsman's Dinner. The evening saw some of the biggest names from both the business and celebrity worlds attend. A packed marquee of over 500 guests was guided through the evening by BBC commentator Paul Dickenson and Deutsche Bank CEO Colin Grassie. Rugby legends' Gavin Hastings, Kenny Logan, Al McHarge, Jim Calder, Chris Cusiter, Damien Cronin and Paul Burnell also took the stage in various roles. Equally impressive was the set of 'money can't buy' auction lots that were conducted by BBC colleague and former London Scot Ian Robertson: with a stand out signed Nelson Mandela sketch raising £14,000 on behalf of the Wooden Spoon Charity.
Amongst a hive of activity over the weekend Sky Sports were also on hand covering things for the Powder Byrne Schools 6 Nations tournament that was eventually won by Eaton College of England. A Wooden Spoon International Legends game featuring great International names from yesteryear rounded off proceedings on the Sunday in style before the crowds finally went on to enjoy the Calcutta Cup at Twickenham.
